The failure of mobile network infrastructure can have far-reaching effects on subscribers, many of whom would be lost without access to their voice and data services. But, maintaining a high quality of service (QoS) is no doubt a consistent challenge. Network outages commonly occur due to physical link failures, network congestion and cell overload, according to Heavy Reading research. Of course, engineers devote many of their resources to maintaining mobile network coverage and optimizing existing resources to prevent these types of network performance degradations, ensure a high QoS and keep customers satisfied, but they can always do more.
By better understanding the latest mobile backhaul and radio access network (RAN) technology evolutions, as well as proven best practices and critical considerations for improving network performance management, mobile operators can prevent the primary causes of network outages. I will dive into this at IQPC's upcoming Mobile Network Performance Management event in London. In a presentation on Tuesday, June 3rd at 10:10 a.m. BST, I will explain how mobile operators can avoid and troubleshoot QoS issues and network performance degradation, as well as how they can make service assurance a competitive advantage.
Later on in the month on June 26th, Patrick Donegan, senior analyst at Heavy Reading, will help me continue the discussion. Our webinar will educate participants on holistic network performance monitoring, and help them more easily identify and proactively prevent network congestion and performance degradation. All in all, this will lead to a functional, and richer, subscriber quality of experience (QoE).
Meeting subscribers' QoS and QoE expectations will only become more challenging as networks continue to evolve and become more complex. Mobile operators could be one outage away from losing, particularly their high-value customers, making network performance management even more critical for their business success.
