Introducing Planet 7.10
Planning a high-performance 5G network has always been a complex undertaking, and the recent proliferation of new 5G services such as RedCap and Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) means there is now even more to consider when designing the optimal network. That is why it is so crucial that your RF planning solution can accurately model a combination of all these services in conjunction with traditional mobile traffic.
In this edition of the newsletter, we’ll look at Planet 7.10 – the latest version of our AI-powered RF planning and optimization software. Planet is now able to simulate the performance of networks carrying a combination of traditional mobile, RedCap and FWA traffic. It also features new functionality to support the roll out of FWA services and expanded Open RAN network planning capabilities.
Below you will find a brief description of some of the highlights of the release with a link to more information. We also share some technology insights from the team around Fixed Wireless Access and planning Private 5G networks.
As always, if you would like to deep-dive into the capabilities of Planet with one of our experts or would like a demo please contact us.

New release of Planet delivers modeling, analysis and usability improvements
Planet 7.10 contains over 40 new features and enhancements including RedCap support, mixed traffic Monte Carlo analysis, Open RAN logical network views, new line-of-sight analysis tools and more. Below are a few of the highlights:
RedCap support
Planet now provides 3GPP compliant support of RedCap devices. RedCap devices can be included in network analyses and Monte Carlo simulations of 5G standalone networks.
Mixed traffic Monte Carlo simulations
Planet can now perform Monte Carlo simulations for standalone FWA networks or on mixed traffic networks consisting of Fixed Wireless Access CPEs, mobile UEs and RedCap devices.
Open RAN network views
The Planet map view and site explorer can now display Open RAN nodes and their logical relationships. New best server layer options to visualize service areas include Best DU, Best CU/BBU and Best MEC.
Site to FWA subscriber LOS analysis
This new tool highlights which sites an FWA subscriber has line of sight to. For larger studies, the tool can create a matrix of all FWA subscribers and sites within an area and provide a LOS matrix.
Rooftop propagation studies
Planet AIM’s new rooftop propagation study feature provides the ability to model the coverage on all rooftops in the same layer. This is very useful for identifying FWA CPE rooftop antenna mounting options.
