Ascom extends success supporting leading operators deploying voice over LTE with major system expansion. Additional orders are expected.
The secured orders totaling over CHF 3 million as part of a major renewal and expansion of the Voice over LTE active testing solution deployed at a tier one United States network operator, with additional orders expected during Q1 2015. The solution encompasses a range of products from Ascom's TEMS portfolio for radio and core network quality assurance, competitive benchmarking, and optimization.
Voice over LTE technology represents both a substantial challenge and an opportunity for network operators. The technology enables a stream of new services such as high quality video calling, as well as lower operating costs as legacy voice circuits are retired. In the short term, as Voice over LTE moves from the deployment phase to increasing use in live networks, the risk of subscribers experiencing issues making basic voice calls makes solutions to monitor Voice over LTE performance and support rapid troubleshooting of issues critically important.
Ascom's active testing solutions test the service as subscribers use it, enabling the true customer experience to be continually monitored and optimized by both radio and core network engineers.
Rikard Lundqvist, General Manager for Ascom Network Testing, commented: "Ascom has been the leader in active testing and analytics solutions for Voice over LTE in the United States and other early adopter countries, and we are very pleased to announce the continuing endorsement of the world's leading network operators. Deployments are picking up speed in Europe and Asia Pacific, and we look forward to bringing the experience we've gained to date ensuring successful results with the technology to more of our global customer base."
