With this state-of-the-art version of Planet, Infovista provides KDDI with the technology to plan the company’s 5G network — including 3D-enabled design capabilities, support for multi-scenario decisions and automated LTE/5G planning — enabling them to meet the challenge of implementing 5G coverage in advance of the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
According to Adrian Jakobsson, SVP of Strategy at RAN Portfolio, “Japanese networks are extremely dense and complex to design because of the need for high mobile data capacity, ubiquitous coverage for both outdoor and indoor users and a strong requirement to provide a high-quality experience for the customer. Planet 7.2 will provide the most accurate 5G modeling, allowing KDDI to launch the highest quality 5G network from Day 1 while optimizing their RAN investment.”
Infovista’s Planet 7.2 has the ability to use live data to model and predict mobile traffic heatmaps with improved accuracy, leveraging high-definition 3D Geodata and proprietary geospatial algorithms. Other new capabilities include:
- Compatibility with TEMS 5G drive tests for model tuning, 5G site verification and radio optimization
- 5G NR Monte Carlo simulation for precise network capacity assessment
- Enhanced 3D planning support for M-MIMO antennas and beam sweeping technology
- 5G spectral efficiency optimization using 3D Automated Cell Planning (ACP)
- New call-trace based troubleshooting and optimization module
Infovista is the only vendor offering a complete 5G portfolio of full network planning and testing in a single, integrated platform. Infovista is uniquely positioned to help mobile network operators roll out 5G NR networks by including integrated Geodata, 5G Planning and Network Testing capabilities.
