InfoVista Affirms Status as Leader in Multi-Vendor IP Service Performance Assurance by Broadening its Integration Scope with Alcatel-Lucent for Ethernet Mobile Backhaul.
Paris, France, and Herndon, VA—September 22, 2009 — InfoVista, the global leader of IP and RF planning, assurance and optimization software solutions and member of the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF), has strengthened its multi-vendor offerings for Ethernet mobile backhaul with the release of the next version of its pre-integrated, off-the-shelf adaptor with the industry leading Alcatel-Lucent 5620 Service Aware Manager. With this release, InfoVista extensively supports deployments of the Alcatel-Lucent 7705 Service Aggregation Router—a platform well suited to the transport needs of the evolving mobile radio access network (RAN).
Infonetics Research, an international data networking and telecom market research firm, estimates that the IP/Ethernet mobile backhaul equipment market will more than double from $4.6 billion in 2008 to almost $11 billion in 2013. This is fueled primarily by unprecedented growth in demand for mobile data services and quality sensitive applications.
“Mobile operators and backhaul wholesalers are all facing similar challenges,” said Vikas Trehan, vice president of product management and marketing at InfoVista. “The unavoidable transition from a stable and legacy technology to a next generation IP/Ethernet infrastructure will demand a much deeper comprehension of new services such as pseudowires and the new complexities introduced by MPLS. Failure to adequately monitor and plan for these new services will impact how end-users experience their mobile data service.”
Twenty-five service providers from around the world now benefit from InfoVista’s certified integration with the Alcatel-Lucent IP/Ethernet portfolio, and this new release further extends its scope into another domain being impacted by IP transformation. The in-sync pre-integration means that service providers can deploy the very latest equipment from Alcatel-Lucent knowing they can launch, monitor, and report on services without the pain of lengthy OSS integration projects.
“As providers tackle the transition from legacy to IP/Ethernet backhaul to cope with the surge of mobile data, their ability to maintain consistent service quality is undeniably critical,” said Michael Howard, principle analyst and co-founder of Infonetics Research. “Providers are now deploying IP/Ethernet backhaul and looking for helpful tools, such as InfoVista’s products, that provide assurance of such services. The InfoVista tools work hand-in-hand with Alcatel-Lucent’s backhaul equipment, and this is a proof point that InfoVista has mastered multivendor Carrier Ethernet performance management.”
Over the last year, InfoVista has been building competency and deployments in the mobile data services market, which coupled with a solid position in Ethernet business services, and a roadmap that continues to add feature richness in these domains, positions them at the forefront of IP/Ethernet service performance assurance for service providers.
InfoVista delivers solutions to service providers around the world who have deployed Carrier Ethernet technology in mobile, broadband and business service markets, and provides critical support for an array of devices and services from leading network equipment vendors including Cisco, Alcatel-Lucent, Juniper and ADVA Optical Networking.
