Ascom's Network Testing Division has been awarded contracts with major network operators in North America and China. The contracts, spread into multiple orders, amounted to over CHF 2 million in the second quarter of 2015 and are expected to result in substantial further business in the second half year 2015.
Network Testing has won contracts with major North America and Chinese operators for solutions to test the quality of Voice over LTE (VoLTE) and indoor and outdoor mixed networks (heterogeneous networks or HetNets).
The deal with the North American operator is a result of a long partnership with Ascom to test the quality of their VoLTE and Indoor/HetNet networks, while maintaining the focus on improving operational efficiency and reducing cost. From planning to site acceptance, the HetNet solution, which is centered on Ascom's TEMS Pocket, allows the carrier to more efficiently implement, test, and optimize those types of mixed environments.
One of the world's largest network operators in China also selected TEMS VoLTE technology; with Ascom, the only vendor from outside China approved. The selection is the result of ongoing investments by Ascom in testing to Chinese operators' requirements, and Ascom's established sales and support infrastructure in China.
"We worked tirelessly with our customer in China throughout the VoLTE trial to ensure they had excellent visibility of what was happening as they implemented the new technology," said Rikard Lundqvist, General Manager Ascom Network Testing. "The feedback we received from both the operator's Corporate and R&D groups is that our VoLTE solutions were outstanding, and helped them truly gauge their network's performance, which has resulted in several orders in the second quarter and will support substantial ongoing business throughout 2015."
