PARIS, France and HERNDON, Virginia—June 16, 2009 — InfoVista, gthe global leader of IP and RF planning, assurance and optimization software solutions, today announced MTN Cameroon, the leading service provider in Cameroon’s mobile telephony market, has chosen to deploy Infovista’s VistaInsight for Networks and Mobile Knowledge Pack add-on module for end-to-end management of mobile data services to optimize the performance of its next-generation network.
To ensure the quality of its service through truly proactive performance management, MTN Cameroon—the Cameroonian entity of the South-African MTN Group, the leading provider of telecommunication services in Africa—has opted for VistaInsight for Networks and the Mobile Knowledge Pack to replace various tools currently in use across different network domains. The company needed a solution that would provide an end-to-end overview of its service performance and empower it to improve reliability through targeted, proactive troubleshooting of potential performance issues. A critical factor in MTN Cameroon’s decision to go with VistaInsight for Networks was the solution’s capacity to handle the different technologies currently implemented, as well as equipment from multiple network vendors.
“VistaInsight for Networks goes beyond simple performance management. It gives us overarching visibility of all of our network’s key performance indicators,” said Aline Flore Jounewe Koumessi, IP network planning manager for MTN Cameroon. “This invaluable information allows us to adapt network capacity to the ever growing bandwidth requirements of our services and foresee potential performance issues. All of this takes place on a single platform, which streamlines data from a highly heterogeneous technological environment.”
“The African telecommunications market is undergoing sweeping changes and experiencing huge expansion with significant growth potential. By deploying a next-generation network and embracing a performance management solution that is already used by major service providers around the globe, MTN Cameroon is poised to get the most out of the technology,” said Roland Rodriguez, vice president of Infovista operations in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. “Our partnership with MTN Cameroon, added to the success we have enjoyed with other major players in Africa, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe, validates our strategy for growth in emerging countries.”
MTN Group has operations in 21 countries and more than 80 million subscribers. MTN Cameroon, Cameroon’s leading service provider with more than 50 percent market share, has invested about $420 million to date to develop its next-generation network, designed for across-the-board delivery of all services—including fixed network services, mobile voice and data services, and high speed Internet services—to its entire customer base, ranging from enterprise customers to the general public.
