VistaInsight for Networks chosen to deliver service-centric performance management on T-Mobile’s new UK-based MPLS VPN network
Paris, France and Herndon, VA (United States), Feb. 7, 2006 – Infovista, the global leader of IP and RF planning, assurance and optimization software solutions, announced today that T-Mobile, one of the world’s leading mobile telecommunications companies, has chosen Infovista’s VistaInsight for Networks to optimize network performance and reduce cost of operations on its new UK MPLS-based IP VPN. The software will enable T-Mobile to ensure the reliability and Quality of Service of 2.5 and 3G data services and, ultimately, converged voice, data and video offerings. The new network goes live early 2006.
“The driving factor behind our decision to deploy performance management software was the desire to achieve operational excellence across the network,” says David Norden, OSS technical consultant, T-Mobile. “We carried out an in-depth evaluation of a range of performance management vendors and found Infovista’s out of the box QoS capabilities for MPLS application traffic management support and real-time capabilities to be superior to anything else on the market. The inherent flexibility and openness of Infovista’s software was also critical to our decision as it meant we could easily integrate Infovista with our existing systems.”
The dramatic growth in next generation network technology is compelling service providers to adopt new business models around IP convergence and the delivery of third-generation services, which make mobile networks more powerful to support advanced multimedia services over a single network. Service Providers must be able to monitor the core network in real-time to optimise delivery of services at the edge for the subscriber. Infovista’s VistaInsight for Networks performance management solution will enable T-Mobile to maximize the return on investment from its new MPLS network and ultimately leverage it for competitive advantage by supporting the delivery of next generation service offerings to its subscribers.
Infovista’s, web-based, real-time and historical reporting capabilities will provide T-Mobile with enhanced visibility into network performance and the services running across it. The detailed performance data generated by Infovista will be primarily used by T-Mobile’s operations department and service management center for capacity planning, performance monitoring, network troubleshooting, and trend analysis.
Infovista will be fully integrated with T-Mobile’s home grown applications including its in-house resource management database. Once the network is up and running it will also interact with the Netflow troubleshooting solution from Crannog Software and fault management software from EMC SMARTS to provide deep network flow analysis and integrated notification of service degradation.
“As mobile operators move to MPLS networks to support new value-added services and drive new revenue streams, they are coming under increasing pressure to optimize network investments and efficiencies,” says Julien Dahan, SVP EMEA sales, Infovista. “Customers like T-Mobile recognize the role performance management can play in achieving these objectives and are reaping the benefits. Even fractional improvements in delivering consistent and predictable levels of service can produce significant financial savings.”
