Infovista at Mobile World Congress
Earlier this month the Infovista team joined the 88,500 people who attended MWC Barcelona, where 5G monetization was top of mind, and ending network and operational siloes through automation emerged as a major theme.
Aligned to this, we showcased how cloud-native, data-driven automation can make your 5G investments work smarter across network planning, testing, optimization and assurance processes. Our experts were on hand with live demonstrations including our new use case-centric workflows in Planet Cloud, how to use crowdsourced data to improve your network planning, and how Planet AIM, our AI-driven propagation model, can improve the accuracy of your coverage predictions also proved popular.
In this newsletter we look at the evolution of 5G planning, discuss mmWave planning and talk about our latest release of Planet, version 7.8.
Welcome to the March 2023 edition of the Planet Newsletter.

Planet Cloud
Last month we announced new use case-centric workflows in Planet Cloud, aimed at helping RF engineers increase the speed and accuracy of their 5G network planning.
The live demo of this new capability was extremely well received at MWC Barcelona.
Read the full press release of the announcement for all the details or contact us if you would like a demo.
Planet 7.8 released
While Planet has been a fully capable 5G planning tool for many years now, we continue to update it with the latest 3GPP requirements and enhancements to improve planning accuracy and efficiency. Planet 7.8 contains over 20 such updates and enhancements.
One of the new capabilities is the Antenna Relocation Tool (ART). The ART tool intelligently relocates antennas placed on buildings to the facades observing blocking objects such as roof furniture or neighboring buildings.
The ART tool can be run on a single sector or an entire network and is especially useful for ensuring accurate coverage predictions from candidate sites or for upgrading a site database where antennas have just been placed in the middle of buildings. Look out for a blog on the ART tool soon.
Get in touch if you would like to learn more about Planet 7.8 or wish to upgrade.
BTC selects Planet
Botswana Telecommunications Corporation Limited (BTC) recently selected Planet as its new planning tool to support the modernization of its existing mobile network as it expands its 4.5G coverage and prepares to deploy 5G.
It also chose Infovista’s TEMS network testing tools to provide troubleshooting, optimization and benchmarking capabilities, ensuring the best possible quality of experience for its customers.

Something a bit different!
While this is a newsletter focused on Planet and RF planning, at Infovista we understand that all stages of the network lifecycle – planning, deploying, operating and monetizing – are critical for the success of a network.
With that in mind, in each newsletter we will also look beyond planning and into the wider 5G network lifecycle. This month we hope you enjoy reading a blog on why active monitoring makes good sense for mobile networks.
